  • Short-Term Single Entry: Persons entering PNG for a single visit (to attend business meetings, board meetings, conferences, conduct an exploratory business visit or participate in business negotiation)
  • Short-Term Multiple Entry: Persons entering PNG on multiple visits during a single twelve month period (to attend business meetings, board meetings, conferences, conduct an exploratory business visit or participate in business negotiation)

Dependents

Dependents of Business Entry Permit Holders can apply for a Tourist Entry Permit at PNG Diplomatic Missions or upon arrival at Port Moresby International Airport (subject to eligibility)

Validity

  • Short-term Single entry: The Business Short-Term Single Entry Permit is valid for thirty (30) days per visa. Employment prohibited
  • Short-term Multiple entry: The Business Short-term Multiple Entry Permit is valid for 12 months with a stay of up to 60 days permitted on each arrival. Employment prohibited

How To Apply

  1. Complete the Application for Entry Permit
  2. Pay the visa fee as set out in the Entry Permit Fee Form (36,000 yen for Business Single Visa and 60,000 yen for Business Multiple Visa)
  3. Provide documentary evidence as follows:
    • Recommendation Letter issued by company indicating purpose of visit, duration of stay, location of business, and proposed frequency of visits
    • Letter of Invitation from business associate in PNG
    • Evidence of return/on-going ticket

**Papua New Guinea Embassy in Tokyo is not accepting a postal application, thank you for your understanding.

Extension Of Stay

Extensions are prohibited for both Short-term Single Entry and Short-term Multiple Entry visas

Travel Restrictions to Papua New Guinea due to coronavirus measures

As of 6th October 2022, there are no restrictions for International travel into Papua New Guinea.

Start of Digital Arrival Card for all travelers

Effective 1st Oct., 2025, PNG Government started Digital Arrival Card (DAC) for the entry into PNG, instead of paper arrival card. Please access the link below and register your information using your computer or smart phone, within 72 hours before the estimated arrival time.

The tablet for registration is available at arrival area at Port Moresby International Airport. In the transition period, paper arrival card is still available.

Start of The Green Fee on Foreign Passport Holder

Foreign Passport Holders are now requied to pay Climate Change Green Fee when departing PNG, 50 kina (or USD 12) in cash or by credit card.

Green Fee exempiton criteria is as follows:
PNG Passport Holders / Crew Members of a vessel or ship / Diplomats / Military Personnel / Children under 12 years / Transit passengers of less than 12 hours
