Rt.Hon Grand Chief, Sir Michael Somare, GCL, GCMG, CH, CF, KSt.J, MP, founding Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, passed away on February 26th, 2021 in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. He also received an honorary award from Japan in 2015; the Grand Cordon of the Order of the Rising Sun.
Papua New Guinean Embassy in Japan opened Condolence Book from 2nd March to 5th March, 2021. The Embassy appreciates many people who visited and sent messages during the period.
